When Country Creek Builders first meet this Family, it was clear that their future basement would be used by the entire busy family. A great deal of focus was given to their two teenage children and allowing them to have family time rather than everyone running off to their own rooms. The design for this basement needed to include a crafting area for their daughter, a gaming area for their son, an area for an air hockey table, a Galaga Video game plus a bar and TV area for the adults.
Country Creek Builders listened to the family and gathered everyone’s thoughts and ideas. Once we had the first revision of the design completed, we meet with the entire family to present the design. After a few tweaks and another revision, the plan was finalized.
Part of the design process when hiring Country Creek Builders is to assistance the homeowners with their selections. We know that making selections can be overwhelming to some homeowners, so Country Creek Builders meets the homeowners at the cabinet shop to assist in making the wood species, stain color and hardware selections. Once the cabinets are finalized, the granite and tile selections are determined, ensuring that the selections flow and look good together. Country Creek Builders believes in assisting homeowners with their selections – guiding them along the way to an amazing finished project.
The design of the bar included an area for a TV, a storage area for a X Box Console, a lockable liquor cabinet and enough seating for the entire family. The bar cabinets were built out of Knotty Alder and stained a Dark Walnut. A rustic Reclaimed wood was installed on the front of the bar to give this basement project a rustic feel. A TV component cabinet was built to match the bar and tie the TV area into the Bar area. The Granite that was selected for the bar was Betulaurie Granite. A Legno Travertine 4 X 16 tile was installed to blend with the Betulaurie Granite Counter tops. To bring a grey color into the project, a Virgo Negro Porcelain 12 X 24 tile was installed on the bar and bathroom floor.
This unfinished basement had a lot of heating ducts that were installed when the house was built, so we spent a great deal of time on the design to make the required soffits blend in and feel less obtrusive. Country Creek Builders did not want to have the standard square and rectangular soffits that are common when other contractors finished basements, so Country Creek Builders designed curved and angled soffits and arched niches to give this basement a unique look and feel.
Two panel arched knotty alder doors, rustic Knotty Alder base and window trim were used and stained to match the bar. The color of the stained doors and trim blends in with the Rustic reclaimed wood that was installed on the front of the bar.
The completed basement for this Shakopee family finished better then they expected. Everyone in the family had input on the design and finished look for another great Basement finished by Country Creek Builders.
