Finished Basement in Lakeville, MN

Country Creek Builders recently finished a basement renovation for a homeowner in Lakeville, Minnesota. This project involved removing sheetrock in the proposed bar area; framing a new laundry room, and office area, new electrical wiring, and plumbing rough-ins. Custom built cabinets for the bar/kitchen area, laundry room and office were designed specifically for the space and installed.

Basement Design Phase

During the design phase of this project, the homeowner expressed her desire to have her office not feel like it was located in the corner of the basement. Country Creek Builders worked closely with Designed Cabinets; also located in Lakeville, to design and build false windows in the office area. The windows were built to match the cabinetry and day bed in the office. Country Creek’s electrical contractor; Felder Electric, wired LED lights behind the glass so that the windows would have natural looking light while the owner worked in her new office space.

Creative Solutions For Problem Areas

We also designed and built a day bed with a false window centered over the bed, to hide the electrical panel that was located on the wall. Another challenge with the design of the office was an unsightly sump pump located in the corner of the proposed office area. Country Creek designed bookcases on each end of the daybed, with the left bookcase hiding the sump pump. The sump basket would now be covered by the base cabinet of the bookcase – and accessible for any necessary maintenance.

Custom Finishes

The cabinets have shaker style doors; paneled ends; 3″ cove molding on the uppers and a high quality painted finish with Sherwin Williams Dover white.The bar countertops are Hanstone “Specchia” white quartz and finished off with Snow Glass Stria tiled splash. The floor tile is Atelier Nacar 22 x 85 CM tile from the Tile Shop.The bar has a Kohler 25 X 22 stainless steel sink and a Pfister “Suri” pull out spray kitchen faucet also finished in stainless steel.
