This was certainly the case for Ben and Danielle Walker, who worked with Country Creek Builders to transform the basement of their Eagan, MN, home into a cozy, modernized living space for both adults and children.
Here is a closer look at the custom elements Country Creek Builders designed and implemented into Ben and Danielle’s new, breathtaking basement – and how we can do the same for you.
Ben and Danielle knew they wanted a basement that would allow them to escape and entertain, but they also knew it had to accommodate their young children, as well.
The solution was a custom home theater area with space for an 80” TV, ambient LED lighting, a linear fireplace, and more – all just a few steps away from an under-stair playroom that featured an arched doorway and servicing window.
We also opened up the walls at the bottom of the stairs and added railings to offer a more airy and inviting feel.
Family Room Features:
To meet their specific desires for entertaining friends, Ben and Danielle also wanted a basement bar area included in the project, opposite the stairs from the home theater.
The bar included a TV of its own in the upper cabinets, along with adjacent wine storage and an under-cabinet fridge. Ample room to move and the addition of stools, a drink ledge, and a putting green primed the space for the couple’s next get-together.
Wet Bar Features:
The existing basement bathroom had a less-than-ideal layout, which made usability and comfort an issue.
As a solution, we began the basement bathroom remodel by jackhammering existing concrete to gain access to relocate the toilet, shower, and vanity drains, creating more space and a more naturally flowing feel. The completion of the shower, vanity, and flooring made the space clean and comfortable for the couple, their kids, and their guests.
