Whether your basement is completely unfinished, or just ready for an upgrade, a basement remodel can drastically change your everyday lifestyle and enhance your space.
Ready to enjoy all the square-footage their home has to offer, Sylvester and Lorraine Williams turned to Country Creek Builders to transform their unfinished basement into a comfortable family room, a stylish bar area, an added bathroom, and a game area.
Here's a detailed look into how Country Creek Builders took an unfinished basement and gave the Williams' family a unique, custom design; turning their basement into a space the whole family can enjoy.
Sylvester and Lorraine knew they wanted a family room with a fireplace as well as a large TV. Due to large posts breaking up a lot of the family area, the CCB design team had to get creative in designing a space that was stylish but could also fit a large fireplace and theater area.
The solution was adding a 48" fireplace surrounded by stacked stone to fill the corner of the family room area. To incorporate the large TV Sylvester and Lorraine desired, we utilized a recessed TV niche with an arch to make the most of the space and add dimension.
They also wanted to use some of the open basement space to add an additional dining area, as well as a game area. We ensured that the dining area would have the best light in the basement by placing it near the largest windows. The game area includes a pool table and a pinball machine – placed behind the theater area so that players can still see the TV on game days.
Family Room Features:
To meet their desires for hosting and entertaining, Sylvester and Lorraine decided to include a bar area in their basement finishing project.
They wanted the bar overlooking the living room, so it would be right on the edge of the sunken floor and would have to work around two large posts that could not be moved. The bar design included accenting the two posts by wrapping them in wood and painting them to match the bar cabinets. We designed the bar so that the bar stools would sit on the sunken floor area – issue solved!
Wet Bar Features:
The Williams' also wanted to add a bathroom to their home with this basement project. They plan to spend a lot of time in their new hangout, and adding a bathroom to the space provides a welcome dash of convenience.
They really wanted to include a nice guest shower within the design with a floating bench. Because the shower they were dreaming of would take up quite a bit of space, we made it the focal point of our design. The rest of Sylvester and Lorraine's house features maple throughout, so we incorporated that through the bathroom cabinets – matching them with the cabinets in the upstairs kitchen.
Bathroom Features:
