Rather than seeing this as a problem, our design team at Country Creek Builders saw it as an opportunity to create something innovative. We made faux posts that blended seamlessly into the design, making them part of the aesthetic rather than just structural support. The floating shelves, painted cabinetry, and wood beams matched the look of the faux posts, resulting in a cohesive design that felt intentional and polished.

Instead of trying to move it, we designed a creative solution by adding a bench with a solid surface top, which cleverly hid the pipe while adding to the room's functionality and style. When the homeowners envisioned their basement remodel, they wanted a bar area to be the focal point for entertaining. We made sure to deliver on this vision by designing a functional and stylish bar. To make this work, we had to bring plumbing in from another part of the basement, requiring us to cut through the concrete floor to make it happen. This added an extra complexity to the project, but the result was well worth the effort.
The bar area features floating shelves illuminated with LED under-cabinet lighting that highlights the beautiful backsplash tiles. We also included an under-cabinet fridge and a drawer dishwasher for convenience. To add warmth and texture to the space, we used naughty alder wood for the beams and posts, creating a cohesive design that tied in with the cabinetry.
Throughout the basement remodel, we ensured lighting played a key role in enhancing the overall atmosphere. Recessed lighting was strategically added to make the space feel bright and welcoming, even though it's in the basement. Proper lighting is crucial in creating a comfortable, functional space, and we paid special attention to how each area was illuminated.
